Worn on numerous occasions, Mid-1970s

Associated with A Night At The Opera 1975 album & tour


the lavish jacket trimmed in scarlet, the sparkling gilt fabric woven with an elaborate pattern of gold and white red-capped flying cranes – [highly auspicious Japanese symbols], the jacket with scarlet crêpe collar, upper sleeve panels, elasticated cuffs and hem, fastening with scarlet buttons and finished with scarlet stitching to seams;


with a pair of ivory cotton bespoke flared trousers, fastening at the waist with three ivory buttons, the waistband with ivory red and black striped ‘silk’ lining; and a pair of red leather clogs made in Denmark by ‘Krone’ the red leather uppers with strap decoration, black wooden heel and platform and hard black foam soles, the insole with maker’s mark ‘KRONE KVALITET’, the soles impressed with size number ‘41’ [unworn] -this jacket featured on souvenir brochures and corresponding 1975-1976 tour promotional material in which Freddie can also be seen wearing the snake bangle in lot 28. 


Worn by Freddie Mercury on numerous occasions in the mid 1970s and for promotional shots for A Night At The Opera, 1975 and featuring on souvenir brochures and corresponding 1975-1976 Tour.
