Jean 'Père' Gourdin (active 1737-1763), maître in c.1715

Jean Gourdin, known as Père Gourdin, was part of a dynasty of important menuisiers active in the Rue de Cléry in Paris from the Régence through the Louis XVI periods, including his sons Jean-Baptiste (maître in c.1738) and Michel, also known as Gourdin le jeune (maître in 1752).


A pair of fauteuils à châssis by Gourdin of the same model is illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe siècle, Paris 2002, p.409 fig. c.
