Description
of baluster form, the flaring mouth and gilt banded neck flanked by affixed gilt-bronze loop handles, the shoulder with stylized foliate flowers and anthemion, painted, by Paul Marie Roussel, possibly after a design by Jean-Louis Hamon, with a continuous frieze of classical figures against a pale-blue background, signed twice PM ROUSSEL and dated 1853, the ornament designed by Paul Alexandre Avisse (1824-1886), printed Imperial eagle flanked by S 53 for 1853, incised 8n-49-4, probably for Nicolas Fischer (1798-1860), active as a tourneur between 1829-1856, printed N/3822 in iron-red
