ARDIZZONE, EDWARD

"Girls! Girls!", three ink drawings, comprising:

i) "Girls! Girls!", 85 by 200mm., unsigned; ii) drawing of movie set, 145 by 205mm., signed "DIZ" lower right and "Edward Ardizzone" lower centre; iii) drawing of three St Trinian's Girls, 38 by 55mm., unsigned; all ink drawings, mounted and framed together

G.W. Stonier reported on the filming of The Belles of St. Trinian's for Punch on 7 April 1954. The article was accompanied by these drawings. When exhibited by the Ashmolean Museum the catalogue noted that Ardizzone "was no stringer to Ealing Studios... he was also a friend of Ronald Searle, the creator of St Trinian's."
