This 1939 Sherlock Holmes title card very rarely surfaces.
This American film was based on the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It was directed by Alfred L. Werker, and the cast includes Basil Rathbone as Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. John Watson. This was the second of fourteen Sherlock Holmes films, and the final one to be released by 20th Century Fox. Future films were released by Universal Pictures. In this film, which was also the final one to be set in the Victorian era, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson attempt to foil Professor Moriarty's (George Zucco) great plan to steal the crown jewels from the Tower of London.
