Formerly in the collection of Michel Giniès, born in 1952. Giniès is a French press photojournalist.
The present lot features a perspex window tothe back of the frame showing three separate press agency stamps—one from the UK and two from different agencies in Brussels. This demonstrates that this photograph was lend to publications at least three times.
This unfinished American romantic comedy was directed by George Cukor. The cast includes Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin and Cyd Charisse. It was a remake of My Favorite Wife (1940) - a screwball comedy starring Irene Dunne and Cary Grant, in which a man who believes his wife drowned years earlier, only for her to return alive just as he's about to re-marry. It was Monroe's last work, but from the beginning of its production it was disrupted by her personal troubles, and after her untimely death on 4th August 1962, the film was abandoned. Most of its completed footage remained unseen for many years.
