In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex GMT-Master, the Cornet released a brand new configuration of their GMT-Master II featuring a green dial, black bezel cased in solid 18k yellow gold. The now discontinued production incorporated many new Rolex innovations. For example, at the time, Rolex announced its proprietary Cerachrom bezel that replaced the previously used aluminum bezel. Additionally, the “money” green dial was somewhat untraditional, where GMT-Masters have generally housed black dials. In fact, the bezel has historically seen more variations compared to the dial within the GMT-Master family.
Measuring 40 mm in diameter, and attached with the notable Rolex Oyster bracelet, the launch saw some aesthetic updates to its case and lug proportions, resulting in a more square case shape.
The watch has become highly sought after on the secondary market and become an instant classic amongst aficionados. It is certainly a must have for any Rolex collector.
