Born in Paris, France in 2005 Salaün is among the next generation of stars out of Paris. At just 16, Salaün began playing for Cholet Basket's youth team in LNB Espoirs, the French under-21 league.
In 2023 at 18, Salaün was a top player for Cholet Basket's senior team both in the LNB Élite and the FIBA Champions League, averaging 9.6 points, and 3.9 rebounds in his first season. Salaün also played for the France national team in the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship where he won "FIBA Champions League Best Young Player."
Tidjane Salaün was drafted with the 6th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft out of Paris.
As international talent continues to dominate the league, Salaün was the third French player selected in the top 10. With his length, shooting touch, and athleticism, Salaün is already adding important talent to a rebuilding Hornets team with young stars, Lamelo Ball and Brandon Miller.
