Several gilt-bronze cup stands of similar form were discovered in a royal tomb in the vicinity of the mausoleum of the Han emperor Wudi (156-87 BC), in 1982 in Shaanxi province.


A closely related example is in the Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo (accession no. TJ5659). See also examples with lacquer ear cups in the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis (accession no. 2005.52.2.1.), and another in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (accession no. W.33-1950).
