Sotheby’s is proud to present a 1997 The Masters Badge signed by Tiger Woods.

At just 21 years old, Tiger Woods stole the show at Augusta National, capturing both his first major championship and his first Masters victory. His win was record-breaking and significant to the sport for several reasons: he became the first African American to win the tournament and don the green jacket; he was the youngest golfer ever to win the Masters; his 12-stroke margin of victory remains the largest in the tournament’s history; and his final score of 270 (-18) stood as a tournament record until 2020.

As reported by the Associated Press in The Free Lance–Star, more than 50 million people watched part of Tiger Woods’ historic performance at Augusta National, making it the most-watched golf tournament in history. His 1997 Masters victory marked the beginning of his dominance in the sport for years to come.

The badge has been encapsulated and the signature authenticated by Professional Sports Authenticators. At the time of cataloging, PSA's Population Report shows that out of 333 authenticated examples, only 21 feature a signature from Tiger Woods. Of those, only seven are graded higher than this example.

The PSA certificate number for this badge is: 76194717.
