The EVH Art Series was first introduced to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Charvel, which also coincided with Van Halen's Summer Tour of 2004. Each guitar had a custom finish designed by Eddie Van Halen with its own 'EVH' hardshell case. These 'tour guitars' were then played by Eddie Van Halen on stage, and subsequently sold via online auction.

The present guitar had a particularly memorable outing at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, in the midst of Van Halen's North American Tour of 2007. Brought out for 'And The Cradle Will Rock...' from the 1980 album 'Women And Children First', the chugging riffs were briefly interrupted as the sixth string snapped from the force of playing. As Eddie continued to play including an aggressive solo, David Lee Roth even held the loose string aloft as he sang. The guitar retains this distinctive playwear, an exciting symbol of Eddie Van Halen's ingenuity and ferocity on stage.
