A.E. Popham and C. Lloyd, Old Master Drawings at Holkham Hall, Chicago 1986, no.245

Although it has not been possible to relate this design to any known work, the old attribution can be supported by comparison with two drawings by Sirani in the Uffizi, Florence.1 The influence of Lodovico Carracci is very strong in all three drawings. Giovanni Andrea was the father of the female painter Elisabetta Sirani (1638-1665).
