A pale celadon and russet jade elephant

Song – Yuan dynasty

宋至元 青白玉瑞象


standing four square on a dense cluster of clouds, the head turned to one side, the body rendered with characteristic folds of wrinkles and terminating in a long finely incised tail swept to the right, the stone an even white colour with icy inclusions

Length 8.5 cm, 3⅜ in.
