Active in Schoonhoven, Gouda and from 1657 onwards in The Hague, Wijntrack specialised in painting animals in landscapes, farm interiors, and still lifes. He also provided staffage in landscapes by other artists such as Meindert Hobbema, Jan Wijnants and Joris van der Haagen. A comparable composition, also signed and smaller in size, depicting Ducks in a Landscape, is in the Museum Bredius, The Hague.[1]
