FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, original wrappers, collector's cloth slipcase, extremities slightly browned, wrappers starting to split along spine


Inscribed by the author to W. J. Turner, a fellow WW1 poet, and Sassoon's close friend (and sometime landlord). Turner received a review copy of Wilfred Owen's 1920 Poems and wrote reviews of the book for The Daily Herald and London Mercury (see lots 367-70). Sassoon wrote Lingual Exercises (1925) whilst lodging with Turner and his wife Delphine, in Tafton Street, London. No inscribed copies of this title has appeared at auction for 15 years.
