Description

Robert Graves

Treasure Box. London: Chiswick Press, [1919]

FIRST (SOLE) EDITION, ONE OF 200 COPIES, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO IVOR GURNEY, 4to, original wrappers, backstrip split

This book is inscribed by the author to Ivor Gurney, fellow WW1 poet and composer, who set several of Graves's poems to music. The collection—Graves's first book of poetry after demobilization—has no specific WW1 poems, but Graves stated in the preface to “Whipperginny” that the poems in this book were an "Arcadia of amatory fancy, as a reaction to war neurosis". A very good copy in wrappers.
