Produced only for four years during 1985 to 1989, the Rolex Explorer II reference 16550 is rather uncommon on the market, and the present example features very desirable traits for collectors. Upon close inspection, one shall notice the space between the two lines of texts "Superlative Chronometer" and "Officially Certified" would line up, indicating that the present watch is the so-called "Rail Dial" variation which is only limited to the earliest models produced for this reference. The glossy black dial on the other hand has developed a spider web effect, and the lume plots and hands have aged beautifully into a rich colour. With a charming personality, the present watch makes a perfect choice for entry and vintage collectors alike.
