For the creation of his series Library (2012-13), Matt Lipps sourced imagery from the epic 17 volume Library of Photography published in 1970-72 by Time-Life Books. Lipps cut out and collaged almost 500 separate pieces that mimic objects placed on library shelves. These collages were then photographed and enlarged, creating scale shifts and surreal juxtapositions. Lipps' work was recently included in the 2018 exhibition Cut! Paper Play in Contemporary Photography at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles.
