“On behalf of Brown-Forman and The GlenDronach, I would like to extend my congratulations on The Distillers’ inaugural One of One Auction. As a company and individuals, we are incredibly proud and grateful to contribute to such a valuable end” - Marshall Farrer SVP-Europe, Brown-Forman

GlenDronach Distillery’s sherry cask mastery is a story of rare dedication.

Bottle No.1 of The GlenDronach Aged 50 Years is the distillery’s first-ever release at this milestone age statement. This rare expression of The GlenDronach was distilled in 1971, filled into fine Spanish oak sherry casks from the bodegas of Jerez in Andalucía, and left to quietly rest in their traditional dunnage warehouses.

Over the decades, custodianship has passed down through generations at The GlenDronach Distillery, each cask nurtured by the presiding Master Blender. A small number of casks which demonstrate the most exceptional character are chosen to reach the celebrated age of fifty years

Protected and nurtured over five long decades, this exquisite Single Malt has matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, personally selected and married by Master Blender Rachel Barrie for a final maturation in a single Pedro Ximénez cask. It is bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration and with the full depth of natural colour drawn from slow maturation in rare Spanish oak.

The GlenDronach Aged 50 Years is rich and seductive with mellow layers of alluring complexity. On the nose, ripe dark cherry and plum are the prelude to a harmony of rolling stone fruit, gentian and a plume of smouldering tobacco, lifted by lilting notes of orange, bramble and cranberry.

The palate brings an exquisite overture of flavour, with dense undertones of dark chocolate, tobacco and cocoa. A perfect counter comes in a crescendo of elegant plum and luxurious black cherry, enrobed in a swathe of velvet espresso.

The GlenDronach Aged 50 Years is presented in a luxurious bottle specially engraved with ‘Bottle No.1’ to mark its rarity and sealed with a bespoke wooden stopper with gold engraved inlay. The presentation box is clothed in the finest genuine leather, embossed with The GlenDronach Distillery marque, and adorned with a bespoke ‘Bottle No.1’ plaque. The accompanying embossed leather booklet contains a handwritten message from Master Blender Rachel Barrie, along with a personal invitation to join her at the distillery for a private tasting and luxury experience.

Included in this lot is an invitation to join Master Blender Rachel Barrie for an exclusive experience at The GlenDronach Distillery, in the East Highland hills of Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

The ‘behind-the-scenes’ experience will include luxury travel to & from Aberdeen Airport/equivalent transport hub and one night’s accommodation for two. Guests will be personally guided by Master Blender Rachel Barrie on an exclusive distillery tour and tasting experience, followed by dinner overlooking the distillery in the historic Boynsmill House on the distillery estate.

Glendronach Distillery

The GlenDronach Distillery has carried forth the legacy of their visionary founder, James Allardice, since 1826. Whilst many years have passed, they remain steadfast in their commitment to crafting the most exceptional, richly-sherried Single Malts, using time-honoured methods passed down through generations for almost two-hundred years.

Time slows down in the quiet Valley of Forgue, deep in the East Highland hills, and its skilled craftspeople still work by sight, sound, and smell to create their Single Malts. The GlenDronach’s robust Highland spirit is slowly matured in the finest Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía in Spain. This exquisite duality brings exceptional depth, character, and complexity to its whisky.

At GlenDronach, the team believes nothing truly mastered comes easily. They work hard to create the very best, taking great pride in their craft and in sharing this passion with old and new friends around the world.

Their Master Blender Rachel Barrie intricately composes each expression of The GlenDronach Highland Single Malt for the deepest colour; the richest, most full-bodied complexity; and an enduring, elegant finish. This rare dedication, founded on almost two centuries of knowledge, is embodied in every expression of The GlenDronach.
