The apex of the German watch maker's complicated line: the tourbograph couples the tradional art of watch making with modern ingenuity. This watch incorporates the chain and fuée mechanism with the tourbillon, perfecting the movement's long-term accuracy, in addition to a spilt seconds chronograph. As a result of this technical achievement, the Tourbograph earned the prestigious German accolade for watch making "Pour Le Mérite". The chain and fusée mechanism of Pour Le Mérite was made of steel, where friction existed with steel on steel. For the present lot, steel was replaced by copper beryllium, a new material with a lower friction coefficient.

Composed of over 1000 parts and due to the complexity of assembly, manufacture is limited to 12 pieces per year, and only 51 pieces were made.
