A cclaimed fencer Edgar Cheung Ka Long won Hong Kong’s second ever Olympic gold at the Tokyo Games Men’s Foil Individual in July 2021, a historic moment for the city which up until then held only one gold medal, won by windsurfer Lee Lai-shan in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympics. At the age of 18, the left-handed foilist was crowned Asian champion, and in 2016 the athlete won a gold medal in the Men’s Foil Individual at the Asian Fencing Championships in Wuxi, China, the first Hong Kong fencer to win the gold medal in this event.

2021 年 7 月，著名劍擊運動員張家朗在東京奧運男子花劍個人賽中勇奪香港有史以來的第二面奧運金牌，締造香港歷史，此前香港唯一一面金牌是由滑浪風帆運動員李麗珊於1996 年亞特蘭大奧運中奪得。這位左手握劍的運動員年僅18歲時已經成為亞洲冠軍，並於2016年在中國無錫舉行的亞洲劍擊錦標賽中獲得男子花劍個人金牌，成為首位在此項目獲得金牌的香港劍擊運動員。
