The Duke of Wellington’s Campaign Cloak

On 14 July 2015 a cloak worn by the Duke of Wellington during the Waterloo campaign will be offered in our English Literature, History, Children’s Books and Illustrations sale. This plain blue cloak has exceptional provenance: it was given by Wellington to Caroline Lamb after the battle and has been in the same family ownership since 1823. It will be the centrepiece of a group of items including an autograph battle order by Wellington, exceptional letters with eyewitness accounts of such events as the Peninsular War and the Duchess of Richmond’s Ball, and a lock of Napoleon’s hair.
