Hong Kong celebrates the New Year with a Lion Dance.

HONG KONG - One of the many traditional activities celebrating the Chinese New Year is Lion Dancing, in which two performers are inside a lion costume, one in front of the other, mimicking the movements of a lion. The dancers are invariably accompanied by fellow performers beating drums and cymbals all synchronized to the lion’s choreographed steps and, very often, acrobatic movements. On Monday, a Dancing Lion entered Sotheby’s Hong Kong offices to mark the beginning of the Year of the Snake.
