A Gerhard Richter painting captures global interest following a world’s record in London.

DOHA - Highlights from our New York Auction of Contemporary Art travelled to Doha, where Gerhard Richter’s Abstraktes Bild (712) (1990) was of particular interest following last week’s sale of Richter’s Abstraktes Bild (809-4) (1994) for $34.2 million (£21.3 million), the most ever paid at auction for the work of a living artist. Here, Sotheby’s Alex Rotter takes questions at the Katara Art Center, which hosted the exhibition featuring masterpieces by Warhol, Mitchell, Twombly, Bacon, Basquiat and Richter. The works are set to return to New York, where they will go on view beginning 9 November.
