LONDON - This selection of jewels from the upcoming Arts of the Islamic World sale on 20 April encompasses 800 years of jewellery production from India and Persia through to North Africa. Over the centuries, the local craftsmen developed sophisticated jewellery-making techniques, producing pieces which were traded, gifted and admired for their opulence. Each of these jewels testifies to this important tradition, as well as recounting a very personal history, continuing to inspire jewellers today. Click ahead to read the stories behind the jewels.
