Sotheby’s is honored to be offering fine art and jewelry from the collection of prominent New York philanthropists Mamdouha & Elmer Holmes Bobst this spring in New York. The collection is led by a magnificent group of classic Impressionist paintings, which will be offered in Sotheby’s May sales of Impressionist & Modern Art. Assembled by the Bobsts in the 1960s to fill their stately apartment at One Sutton Place, the collection includes works by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Pierre Bonnard that have remained untouched for half a century – the majority of which are appearing at auction for the first time. The collection also includes some fine British 18th century portraits which will be offered in the Master Paintings sale in late May.

Sotheby’s Jewelry sales in both April and June will offer pieces from Mamdouha ‘Dodo’ Bobst’s personal collection. The bold, colorful selection features mid-century signed jewels for every occasion, from iconic firms such as Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston to rare pieces by coveted designers Marianne Ostier and Donald Claflin.

Full proceeds of the sales will benefit causes the couple supported during their lifetimes, including New York University (home of Elmer Holmes Bobst Library), Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (home of the Bobst International Center), The American University of Beirut (home of the Elmer and Mamdouha El-Sayed Bobst Chemistry Center, as well as numerous scholarship funds), and Princeton University (home of The Mamdouha S. Bobst Center for Peace and Justice).
