HONG KONG - On Wednesday 3rd September, Sotheby’s assisted South China Morning Post (SCMP), one of the leading and most important English newspapers in Hong Kong and Asia, to celebrate their 110th Anniversary with a charity art auction at the Grand Hyatt to benefit three local charities: Tung Wah Hospitals, St. James Settlement and the Society for Community Organization (SoCo) with four meaningful projects.

There were two stars at the auction. The first one was a work by Zeng Fanzhi – Snow 13-1 (shown above), which was specially commissioned for the event. After some rapid-fire bidding the work was sold for HK$1,500,000. The second star of the evening was eight year old Kenny Lau, who assisted me in selling his own work, finally selling for HK$95,000.

The event was attended by nearly 300 guests and the auction totals for the evening were HK$2,734,000 (US$350,000).
