拍品資料及來源

The form of this tankard, particularly the flat-domed top, associates it with three tankards by Savage with Bermuda histories (illustrated Hyde, nos. 403-405, pp. 178-79), including one at Christ Church, Warwick, Bermuda. Thomas Savage, Sr. (1664-1749) was born in Boston and accepted as a freeman on March 22, 1689/90. He moved with his wife and children to Bermuda about 1706 and remained there until 1714. A number of pieces with Savage's mark surviving in Bermuda or Bermuda families attest to the success of his business there.
