A KEY GROUP OF PAPERS ON THE INVENTION OF THE TRANSISTOR, a component in all modern electronic devices and one of the most revolutionary inventions of the twentieth century. The authors of these papers include William Shockley (1910-1989) and John Bardeen (1908-1991), who received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1956 for their work on semi-conductors and transistors.
