拍品資料及來源

"The journal Mathematical tables and other aids to computation was founded by Professor Raymond Clare Archibald in 1943... [and] for a time, it was the only journal dealing exclusively with computation and computing devices. In its July 1946 issue, it published the landmark article 'The Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC)' by Herman H. Goldstine and Adele Goldstine, which described in detail the first large-scale electronic computer... The journal was, in its early years, the only venue in which articles and notices relating to computing machinery and methods could be readily published, and thus it contains many of the seminal papers" (Tomash & Williams). See Origins of Cyberspace for details of papers published in these volumes, by Archibald (97-98), Cohen (536), Comrie (541), Eckert (577, 579), Lyndon (1077), Goldstine (633), Wormersley (1071).
