拍品資料及來源
The French weaver and merchant Joseph Marie Charles (1752-1834) played a key role in developing the earliest programmable loom, the "Jacquard loom" or "Jacquard machine", which weaved cloth by a stack of punched cards, revolutionising weaving practice first in France and then around the world. Professional weavers have often claimed that in effect, this was the first computer.
