i. autograph letter signed, to Mary Ann Milman, wife of Henry Hart Milman (1791-1868), dean of St Paul's, mentioning that he had seen an electrical demonstration by Andrew Crosse ("Mr Crosse the insect maker") and sending her printed invitations for unspecified events on 29 April and 6 May, which she is to hand to “Mrs Butler” (Harriet Edgeworth Butler, 1801-1889?) and “Miss Kemble” (Frances or Adelaide, daughters of the actor Charles Kemble?), 1 page, 16mo, 24 April [n.y.], [T&W B5]ii. autograph letter signed, to "dear sir", asking that their meeting should take place at his home ("...my house is full of workmen pulling up hot-water apparatus and I must not leave them..."), 2 pages, 16mo, 10 June 1838, (bought from John Wilson, 1979), [T&W B6]iii. carte-de-visite photographic portrait, half-length and seated, 93 x 60mm., mounted on card (105 x 62mm.), c.1860s, [T&W B8]
