Of interest to this collection for its description and illustration of the Roman abacus. Welser’s family had governed Venezuela from 1528-1555, hence the double-page map of that country. The work is further distinguished by several leaves of versus intexti from the Carmina of Publilius Optatianus Porphyrius, printed in red and black.
