Ursinus was a former assistant of Kepler's, and his earlier work Cursus mathematicus of 1618 was the first publication of Napier's logarithms on the Continent (through which Kepler became aware of Napier's work). The table of logarithms in this work, calculated to base 10, "is the largest table of original Napierian logarithms that were produced" (Tomash & Williams).
