A translation of Mirifici logarithmorum canonis descriptio (see lot 448). This is the second English edition, with a new title page and an appendix. In this copy the original (1616) title has been removed and replaced with a new gathering which includes all the new material for this edition - a title (1618) and appendix (8 leaves), plus 3 blanks - all of which are placed at the beginning of the work. The old title and its conjugate leaf have been removed resulting in the loss of A12 ("A view of this booke" with errata on verso). This copy has various near contemporary notes on the first blank leaf "Wednesday and Saturdays, alle at the White Bear below St. Brides church", and on the verso various names and addresses, including John Hallywell, Mr Bourchier, and Mr ?Treedler.
