拍品資料及來源

The majority of this work by Grillet, a clockmaker to Louis XIV, is taken up by a description of his "Nouvelle machine d'arithmetique" (pp.1-48). The work seems to be very rare, with no copies recorded at auction, perhaps due to the fact that the Intendant of Police in Paris seized the book - probably for privilege infringement, because in the book Grillet also describes a barometer, for which he borrowed the construction of another Parisian instrument-maker, Hubin, without crediting him (see http://history-computer.com/).
