拍品資料及來源

The author was a private tutor of civil and military architecture in Leiden, introducing mathematical methods in that field. In this work he describes the use of a sector which he had equipped with a separate fortification scale. "The book is unusual in that it not only describes the instrument and gives examples of its use but also provides sixteen engraved plates that contain, besides the illustrations for the problems, complete tables for all the scales on this sector" (Tomash & Williams).
