拍品資料及來源

First edition of Van Ceulen's major work, in which he explains his calculation on the ratio between the circumference of a circle and its diameter and calculations on the length of the sides of equilateral polygons. Chapter 21 is a systematic refutation of Scaliger’s Cyclometrica (1594), a work that included a false circle quadrature and many other incorrect theorems (see lot 576).
