Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the printed catalogue illustration. Three out of the four corners present wear marks. The upper left corner does not. The lower right corner presents some losses mainly located on the rim. There are hairline cracks scattered throughout the composition, which are most likely the result of the artist's choice of medium. There is no evidence of restoration under UV light inspection.
"In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. While Morellet's project seems clearly on the side of Abstraction, he mainly looks to question purpose. Non-representation is in fact the necessary mean to create the breach he seeks in the predictable order of images: it contributes to disrupting the law of genres. Because Morellet is neither geometrician nor mathematician. He sets the rules of a game based on the absurdity of the simplest conventions.
