The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. Good overall condition. There are the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. There are minor restorations as expected. There are restored cracks to the lateral panels and a crack to the top. There are old and inactive woddworm traces, especially to the top, to the feet and to some molding elements. There is a minor loss to the back (lower right hand side part). There are restorations and some cracks to some marble elements. The locks of the 2 upper drawers are later. The key is missing. Very elegant commode.

This rare commode is similar to two models, one in the sale of the collection of Marcel Puech (Tajan, Paris, 8th November 1999, lot 69) and the other one sold at Sotheby's Rome, 18th May 2004, lot 429) from a palazzo on the Piazza Farnese. Our commode could also be compared to two other models in the Palazzo Barberini in Rome formerly in the Museum of industrial Arts in Rome.
