C: Cichorei is a compound of chicory, Cichorium intybus, where the roots, flowers, leaves and seeds were used. A wet drug jar labelled 'S. CHICHOREI.SYMPI', dated 1659 was sold, Christie's, London, October 10, 1985, lot 5.
In overall generally good appearance.
To the underside of the flaring rim, located just to the left of the angel head, there is a small area of over-paint to the surface.
There is typical glaze loss to the rim of the jar, and some scattered flakes to the footrim. Fine glaze crazing.
