This chest’s double panelled facade and case  supported on seperate sledge feet identifies it as a product of a Long Island, New York craftsman.  These chests were made for nearly sixty years and were a ubiquitous form for the region.  The most datable aspect of these chests is their hardware when original.  This chest is noteworthy for retaining it original blue green paint which appears to have a been a popular color of the region.
