Condition
The rhyton in overall good condition with only some wear to the body and glaze, including crazing and glaze flakes (particularly to the rim, duck head, and foliate handle). The handle has fine cracks from firing, which are filled with glaze. There are two small glaze adhesions to the base.

本品角盃，器形優雅，珍珠地飾花葉紋，精巧細緻，當屬現存唐代角盃中精佳之品。布里斯托城市藝術畫廊收藏一褐釉例，器形相近，紋飾較簡單，出自 Schiller 收藏，曾展於《The Arts of the T’ang Dynasty》，洛杉磯郡藝術博物館，洛杉磯，1957年，編號184；另比一綠釉例，龍口銜珠，圖見《世界陶磁全集》，卷11，東京，1976年，圖版129，兩度售於倫敦蘇富比，先於1981年4月7日，編號140，後於1986年6月10日，編號14。另可比較數鴨形盃例，其一現藏於北京故宮博物院，圖載《故宮博物院藏品大系·陶瓷編·隋唐五代（二）》，卷5，北京，2013年，圖版295；另一例載於《The Charles B. Hoyt Collection in the Museum of Fine Arts》，波士頓，1964年，卷1，圖版94；第三例曾展於東方陶瓷學會《Arts of the T’ang Dynasty》，倫敦，1955年，編號146，售於倫敦蘇富比1970年7月14日，編號9；再比一例，售於倫敦蘇富比1983年6月21日，編號95。
角盃，原為牛角或犀牛角製，飲用器，於中亞及西亞以銀或寶石製作，後傳至中國，最早於漢代已有所見，材質多樣，如陶、琉璃以及銀等。唐代角盃，多以波斯銀器為模本，如見倫敦大英博物館收藏一白釉例，錄 Margaret Medley，《T’ang Pottery & Porcelain》，倫敦，1981年，圖版4，然見本品角盃其龍首形制等，可知其已吸納中式元素。
