The panel is flat and stable, comprising three vertical boards beveled on all four edges. The paint surface is good overall, the darks have sunk into themselves a little in the curtain at left but the figure remains strong with good detail. A reading under UV is somewhat impeded by the varnish but there appear to be scattered retouches throughout the background and further minor retouched losses to the nose, chin and the flesh surrounding the sitter's left eye. The painting is ready to hang and is offered in an elaborately carved gilt wood frame.
