仿青銅禮器的玉器始於宋，盛行於清。此蓋爐工藝閑熟、雕琢精細講究，既承前朝古韻，也帶本朝創新元素，典型乾隆風格意蘊。此器玉質溫潤，通體凸雕饕餮紋，兩側置活環龍耳，象徵至高無上的皇帝，乃皇家御器專用紋飾。

蓋鈕裝飾別具特色。鏤雕蓮花為主，兩側飾蓮葉及花蕾，間以螭龍一對，與碩大爐相互呼應。設計巧妙獨特，匠心獨運。由爐頂觀望，蓋鈕如四股金剛杵，透露了乾隆皇帝的藏傳佛教信仰及對傳統文化的尊重。
