Impressively large in scale, this embroidery stitched on a blue cotton ground features a design similar to a fragmentary work sold at Sotheby’s New York, December 3, 1988, lot 76, also published, Christine Klose, "The Perpedil Enigma," Hali, issue 55, fig. 3, p. 111.  The blue cotton ground showing through is shared with another Caucasian embroidery fragment once with Gallery Sailer, see Textura, brochure, Maastricht, 1989.
