Condition
Colour and Clarity: According to Gübelin, AGL and SSEF reports, this sapphire is natural, of Kashmir origin, with no indications of heating. All three laboratories gave this sapphire special comments to highlight its outstanding quality and rarity. Please refer to the reports and letters for more details. In our opinion, the sapphire is of intense, velvety blue colour, which is the most desirable colour in sapphire of this origin. Very clean to naked eyes and lively. Upon 10x loupe, this sapphire appears clean, only minute natural inclusions at a corner, not noticeable. Diamonds are about E to F colours, VVS to VS clarity.
Condition: Platinum ring mount, in mint condition.

藍色皇者氣派
藍寶石跟紅寶石一樣都屬於由鋁和氧組成的剛玉類。這兩種原素在地殼內含量極高，但令寶石呈現誘人藍色的鈦金屬卻十分罕見。此外，因為藍寶石形成所需要的極端環境會導至內含物的出現，所以明淨無瑕又擁有一定份量的藍寶石十分罕見。而在符合此等地質環境的藍寶石產地之中，有一個名字代表了最令人嚮往和備受讚頌的藍寶石搖籃 ── 喀什米爾。
1879年發生了一次山泥傾瀉，因而發現了位於喀什米爾帕達爾地區的藍寶石礦源。這地區初時的產量十分豐富，就連著名的寶石切割大師阿伯特• 拉姆齊(Albert Ramsay)都曾對十九世紀末到訪印度的經歷有以下描述：
「我上一次到訪查謨 - 克什米爾大君的斯里那加宮殿時, 他們端出了三十個盤子，如果我說任何一個盤子上的寶石都能在市場賣得到一百萬元，恐怕是遠遠低估了這些寶物的美及它所代表的財富。」
在之後的六、七年內，這個地區的礦產一直下降。這個現在我們稱之為「老礦」的地區，亦是市場上品質最超凡藍寶石的來源地，基本上已經完全耗盡。更不幸的是，在其後發現的「新礦」中也只能找到有白霜或只是部份帶藍的寶石。
時到今日，喀什米爾已奠定了頂級藍寶石的標準，所有來自其他產區的藍寶石都以喀什米爾為比較的對象。這隻戒指上的藍寶石擁有如絲般的內含物，呈飽滿和絲絨般柔和的矢車菊藍色，兼備典型喀什米爾的完美特質。無可匹敵的17.16卡拉重量，在喀什米爾藍寶石極為罕有；其極具氣派的藍色和清晰的透亮度完全能驚馭較稀有的方形切割；這顆藍寶石即使在同類型的喀什米爾礦產中亦是極為稀珍的上乘之品。
