of hexagonal section, boldly potted with a tapered central section rising from a splayed foot to rounded shoulders and a tall trumpet neck, each facet of the neck and main body painted in iron-red with a five-clawed dragon soaring amidst ruyi-shaped clouds, separated by a band of lotus scroll with shou character roundels on the shoulders below a band of stylised tumultuous waves, all above a further band of crashing waves and two bands of stylised foliate lappets encircling the foot, the footrim bordered with a key-fret border, all horizontal registers divided by gilt-decorated bands

Condition

One corner of the outer rim has an approx. 1 by 1.5 cm restored flake with spray extending to the neighboring region (the rightmost corner in the main illustration on p. 249). The minor fritting to the edges of the upper waves band has been slightly retouched at a couple of areas (max. approx. 1.3 cm to the rightmost corner in the illustration on p. 253). The overall condition is otherwise quite good with the gilt decoration and iron red generally well preserved with only very minor wear.

此件耀眼奪目的六方花觚,為唐英製瓷上之創新突破。器形紋飾取材造辦處製掐絲琺瑯、及畫琺瑯器,尤可見於花觚口沿描金與凸稜等特徵。異於瓷匠拉坯塑成之形,稜角分明的器形構造,及相應對稱的紋飾,更接近於銅胎琺瑯器翻模鑄造及填彩之效果。花觚六方上,取中段繪正面直視雲龍,左右二側雙龍面朝中,搭配莊重端正器形,更顯氣勢。

唐英隸屬正白旗,早期供職內務府,事於養心殿,1726年轉任景德鎮御窰廠督陶官之前,已開始設計官瓷樣式,於內廷飽覽清宮所藏歷朝古珍、繪畫、陶瓷,及造辦處所造之器,耳濡目染,啟發其造瓷之高度成就。

此瓶器形源自高古青銅觚,取材金屬材質之原形,作為寺院供奉之用。自明以降,此類祭祀用器多見貴重鎏金掐絲琺瑯器,然雍正帝「似偏好畫琺瑯於銅胎、瓷胎及料胎,勝於掐絲琺瑯」(見張榮,〈Cloisonné for the Imperial Courts〉,《Cloisonné Chinese Enamels from the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties》,紐黑文,2001年,頁160)。因此雍正朝檔案中,掐絲琺瑯器遠少於琺瑯彩例,然可見一件極為珍稀掐絲琺瑯六方觚,肩部及足部飾有相近纏枝番蓮與直葉紋,頸部及器身作花卉紋,售於香港邦瀚斯2012年5月27日,編號314。

此花觚屬傳統礬紅彩瓷一系,於白瓷上繪紅彩龍紋,首見於洪武一朝。畫琺瑯器亦常見白地,據劉良佑研究,約34%畫琺瑯器以黃彩為主調,約15.2%則為白地為主,其餘才為其他色調(見《故宮所藏琺瑯器之研究》,台北,1978年,頁69)。

可比較二件器形相同的雍正粉彩花觚,模造胎體厚實,飾以花卉紋,出自 H.S. Stern 上校珍藏,與一件同紋香爐齊售於倫敦佳士得1982年4月7日,編號62;其中一瓶後售於香港蘇富比1982年11月9日,編號291,香爐亦是,售於1986年11月19日,編號265。還有一對粉彩花觚,刊載於 S.W. Bushell,《Oriental Ceramic Art》,倫敦,1981年,彩圖版XX;另外二件作例,分別售於香港蘇富比2007年4月8日,編號507,及1987年5月20日,編號565。

亦可比較上海博物館藏一瓶,尺寸略小,展出於《雍正—清世宗文物大展》,國立故宮博物院,台北,2009年,編號II-85。值得注意的是,此瓶與唐英所燒造之青花纏枝蓮紋花觚輪廓相近,如一例曾售於香港蘇富比2007年4月8日,編號508。
