assis en vajrasana sur une base circulaire lotiforme, la main droite en avakasha mudra et la gauche tenant une noix d'arura, vêtu d'une robe monastique aux bords décorés de rinceaux fleuris révélant son torse incisé d'une svastika, le visage charnu agrémenté de l'urna, sa chevelure bouclée attachée en un haut chignon surmonté de l'ushnisha (2)

Acquired by the parents in law of the present owner in Berlin in the 1930s.
Condition
The figure and the lotus base are made separately.
The figure measures 43,5cm in height. It is in overall very good condition. It is heavily and crisply cast and the gilding is rich in tone and has old patina. There are scattered filled-in casting flaws to the back of the figure and one shoulder that have been filled in with strips at the time it was made and before it was gilt. There is a ca. 5 x 4cm large discoloured area to the gilding on the back of the figure. The tip of the figure's left hand index finger is missing and there is overall light wear to the gilding on the raised parts of the casting, particularly to the face and nose.
The lotus base is in overall very good condition. It measures 30cm in Diameter and is 18cm high. It is heavily cast and the gilding is rich with very minor wear. There are four filled-in casting flaws to the rim of the base which have been filled in with strips at the time it was made and before it was gilt.
