Acquired directly from the above by the present owner

Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the illustration fails to fully convey the metallic quality of the first panel. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is evidence of light wear and handling towards the outer edges and extreme corner tips of both canvases. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light. IDOL: There is adhesive residue adhering to the canvas towards the upper and lower edges, in keeping with the artist’s choice of medium and working process. Close inspection reveals small isolated media accretions scattered in places. IDIOT: There are a few scattered light media accretions towards the lower edge.

“My paintings are not formalist, nor narrative. My paintings are realist and connected to real life, the social field, in brief: action. All my works deal with disturbing the status quo.”

The artist quoted in The No Texts, New York, 2003, p. 23
